An involved father promotes his children’s growth and strength. Research studies show that supportive and affectionate fathers affect a child’s social and cognitive development. It also instills general wellbeing, self-esteem, social, and technology skills.

Many people think that technology is destroying familial and social values. However, this might not be true. We are living in a fast-paced technological world, surrounded by computers, smartphones, and gadgets.

In fact, we can’t survive without these things as they have become essentials in our daily lives. Since technology is not going away, as parents, you can allow your children to use it positively.

Find Useful Information

Previously, people would go to the library, wait for a professor or knowledgeable person for hours to get some information. Today, the situation is completely different as you can find any information with a single click. This, in particular, is useful for children to learn things and become part of the competitive world.

For example, if your kid wants to know about wild animals that live in the jungles of Africa, you can take him or her on a virtual safari. Many websites offer virtual tours. In fact, the best way is to sit down with your kid, watch videos on YouTube, and then brainstorm new ideas about the topic under discussion.

Explore The World

With parental controls software or app installed on your kid’s computer or smartphone, you can allow him or her to interact with kids from other countries of the world. Obviously, this does not mean allowing them to use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any other social media platform.

There are many family-friendly websites where kids can chat with each other and learn new things. This is quite helpful when it comes to your kid’s social and cognitive development. When he or she learns about a new culture, this will open new horizons of thinking.

As a father, you can use technology to educate your son or daughter about other countries and people’s ethnicities, backgrounds, cultures, identities, etc. The purpose is to let them know the importance of cultural diversity and respecting people from all ethnicities and removing stereotypes.

Interact With Your Children

Today, we don’t send letters to our loved ones, including children. If you travel a lot for business, you can interact with your children via some of the best video apps such as skype, zoom, etc. As a traveling Dad, you can video chat with your daughter before she goes to bed and read her a fairytale.

If you are a soldier serving in the American Army, you can encourage your son and tell him how much it takes to stand for your people and love your country. No doubt, technology does not replace actual human contact, nonetheless, it has bridged the gaps and connected the loving heart of a father with the innocent heart of his son or daughter.

The perks of modern technology are endless. Parents, especially fathers, can make good use of technology to help educate their kids, make them understand how the technology works, and let them know how to find useful information that can help them in school.

A father can sit down with his children and watch funny, entertaining, informative, videos on YouTube. A traveling Dad can communicate with his children on skype and zoom. Despite a large growing body of research evidence that shows the harmful effects of technology, fathers can act smartly and get the most out of it positively.
